Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan has debuted the first official "Glass" trailer, which was just shown today at San Diego Comic Con.

The highly-anticipated thriller is the third entry in a film universe that's shared with the acclaimed superhero-tinged mystery thriller "Unbreakable," which told the story of an ordinary security guard (Bruce Willis) who discovers his body is virtually indestructible and the recent hit horror thriller "Split," which centered on a tortured killer (James McAvoy) with multiple personalities who ends up transforming himself into a muscle-bound psychotic "beast."

In "Glass," Samuel L. Jackson reprises his character from 'Unbreakable,' Elijah Price a.k.a. Mr. Glass. He's an incarcerated felon who suffers from a rare genetic disorder that has turned his bones extremely fragile and easily destructible. Glass is also a comic book theorist who truly believes he's a real-life superhero villain and also believes David Dunn (Bruce Willis's 'Unbreakable' character) is his superhero nemesis. When Glass meets Kevin Wendell Crumb (McAvoy) and his many personalities at a mental institution, he considers the idea of teaming up to form a "bad guy" alliance.

Emmy-winner Sarah Paulson (The People v. O. J. Simpson, Ocean's Eight) also stars in the film as a psychiatrist who believes Glass, Crumb, and Dunn, now locked up together in a mental hospital, are all mentally unstable and very dangerous. She specializes in people who believe they are superheroes, which of course isn't a real thing -- or is it?

Anya Taylor-Joy will also make an appearance as her character in "Split," Casey Cooke, the only girl to have survived an encounter with Crumb's raving mad alter-ego, the beast.

"Glass" is slated for a January 18, 2019 release.

synopsis:
M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals -- 2000's Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016's Split, from Universal -- in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb's superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
