Todd Douglas Miller, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil documentary "Dinosaur 13," is teaming up with NEON and CNN Films for a brand-new documentary about the Apollo 11 mission that sent astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on a history-making journey to the moon.

It seems the director has gotten his hands on "never-before-seen, large-format film footage," which should showcase the 1969 NASA event like we've never seen it before -- in pristine high-definition! A taste of that footage can be seen in a newly-released teaser trailer, watch it above.

The documentary, which is currently in post-production, will be distributed in theaters by NEON (the studio behind the much buzzed-about doc "Three Identical Strangers"), while CNN Films holds the U.S. television rights to the film.

The release of the teaser, on Friday, coincides with the 49th anniversary of the 1969 Moon landing.

Apollo 11 is the cinematic event fifty years in the making. Featuring never-before-seen large-format film footage of one of humanity's greatest accomplishments.
