"This is a warning. Don't bring the Nightflyer back to Earth," says Gretchen Mol in the newly released official trailer for Syfy's new space-set horror series.

Executive produced by "Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin and based on his award-winning 1980 novella, "Nightflyers" has been described by Martin as "a haunted house story on a starship."

The thriller follows a group of scientists as they try to study alien life while on a dangerous space expedition to save humanity. However, things take a dark turn when their spaceship begins malfunctioning, possibly brought on by a mysterious extraterrestrial force.

In addition to Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire), the Syfy series also stars Eoin Macken (The Night Shift), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship), Brian F. O'Byrne (Manhunt: Unabomber), David Ajala (Falling Water), Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf), Sam Strike (EastEnders), and Angus Sampson (the Insidious films).

"Nightflyers" was developed into a series by screenwriter Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train), who has taken over showrunning duties from Daniel Cerone (Dexter, The Blacklist) who left the project back in March due to creative differences.

Syfy is planning to premiere "Nightflyers" sometime in the Fall.
