From the producers of "The Crown" and "Lost" and the director of the "Resident Evil" movies, comes a new sci-fi thriller series about a group of space-traveling strangers trying to escape their troubled past, only to emerge from hibernation on a malfunctioning spacecraft.

Check out the official teaser trailer for "Origin," a new YouTube original series that stars Tom Felton (Harry Potter film series), Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones), Nora Arnezeder (Mozart in the Jungle) and newcomer Sen Mitsuji as several passengers who have agreed to leave Earth in the hopes of starting a new life on a colonized planet. Things go awry, however, when they suddenly wake up during their space journey and discover their spaceship has been badly damaged by an asteroid.

Created and written by British TV writer Mika Watkins (Troy: Fall of a City, Stan Lee's Lucky Man), "Origin" appears to be an ambitious project for YouTube, which has been expanding its push into original content since hitting it big with the well-received "Karate Kid" sequel series "Cobra Kai."

Co-starring Philipp Christopher, Fraser James, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, Jamie Quinn, Tara Fitzgerald, Millie Davis, and Fionnula Flanagan, the first two episodes of the eight-episode series is being directed by genre helmer Paul W.S. Anderson, of the "Resident Evil" film franchise fame.

"Origin" will be coming out in the Fall.

Each having left behind a dark past in search of a fresh start on a newly colonized planet, they’re desperate to survive at all costs.
