San Diego Comic Con is off and running -- and DC Entertainment has released the first official trailer for "Titans," the upcoming streaming superhero series, which offers a gritty and darker take on the Teen Titans franchise.

Australian actor Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent) is cast as Dick Grayson aka 'Robin'. And from what we can see in the preview, Robin has developed a bit of a mean streak since breaking up his partnership with Batman. In fact, just the mere mention of Batman, sets Robin off into a burst of rage, where he breaks bones and stomps the heads of criminals. Ouch!

The ten-episode action series, which will launch exclusively on DC's new subscription-based streaming service DC Universe, will primarily tell how former sidekick superhero, Robin, became his own boss, forming his own superhero team that mostly consists of young super-powered misfits.

Newcomer Teagan Croft (Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child) plays the mystical-powered Rachel Roth aka 'Raven'. How she forms a friendship with Robin appears to be the core of the series. Meanwhile, other cast members include Anna Diop (24: Legacy) as alien princess Koriand'r aka 'Starfire'; and Ryan Potter (Big Hero 6) as Garfield Logan aka 'Beast Boy'.

Executive produced by mega TV producer Greg Berlanti, Oscar-winning screenwriter/producer Akiva Goldsman and acclaimed comic book writer Geoff Johns, "Titans" will be the flagship show and the starting point (much like Arrow on the CW) that will launch other spin-off superhero shows. In fact, DC's Doom Patrol is already in the works, and will be introduced on "Titans."
