Showtime has released the trailer for "Lynyrd Skynyrd: If I Leave Here Tomorrow," a new rock-n-roll documentary chronicling the tragic history of America's most iconic Southern rock band -- Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The film, featuring never-before-seen concert footage and rare archival audio recordings, offers an in-depth look at the rise and tragic end of one of the most influential rock bands of the 1970s.

Documentarian Stephen Kijak, who also made the acclaimed music docs "We Are X" and "Scott Walker: 30 Century Man," writes and directs "Lynyrd Skynyrd: If I Leave Here Tomorrow," which premiered to strong reviews at SXSW this year.

The documentary, which will also recount the fatal 1977 plane crash that took the lives of three 'Lynyrd Skynyrd' band members and three other passengers, including founding member and lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, is currently slated to premiere on Showtime beginning Saturday, August 18th.
