In the gritty Thai prison drama "A Prayer Before Dawn," English actor Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Green Room) stars as a young British boxer who, after being busted for drug possession in Thailand, is sent to serve a grueling jail sentence at one of the most notorious prisons in the world.

The film, which was shot inside the actual Nakhon Pathom Prison, tells the incredible true story of Billy Moore (Cole), a drug-addicted English boxer who, while living in Thailand, got busted for possessing crack cocaine. As a result, he was thrown into one of the most crowded and dangerous prisons in Thailand. Once there, Billy, eager to survive, was able to convince some of his fellow inmates to teach him Muay Thai kickboxing. In doing so, Billy found himself being drawn into the world of underground prison kickboxing.

Based on Billy Moore's memoir "A Prayer Before Dawn: My Nightmare in Thailand's Prisons," the film is directed by French director Jean-Stephane Sauvaire, who previously helmed 2008's Cannes-winning African child-soldier thriller "Johnny Mad Dog."

"A Prayer Before Dawn" is currently available on-demand through DirecTV, but will be released in select theaters on August 10th. In the meantime, watch a newly-released trailer, above.
