English actress Felicity Jones earned an Oscar nomination for her memorable portrayal of Stephen Hawking's first wife, Jane, in 2014's acclaimed biopic "The Theory of Everything." Later this year, Jones will star in another biopic, portraying yet another dedicated and fearless woman. And don't be surprised if she receives another nomination because the role seemingly has Oscar written all over it.

Check out the first official trailer for "On The Basis Of Sex," a potential awards contender that sees Jones as a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the American feminist icon and the renowned U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

Part biopic, part historical legal drama, the 1960s-era film is depicting Ginsburg's early years as a young lawyer when she worked alongside her husband, Marty Ginsburg (played here by Call Me by Your Name's Armie Hammer), to take on a groundbreaking gender discrimination case and argue its basis before the U.S. Court of Appeals.

In addition to Jones and Hammer, the cast also includes Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, and Sam Waterston.

Written by Daniel Stiepleman, "On The Basis Of Sex" is directed by Emmy-winning TV helmer Mimi Leder (ER, The West Wing), who also previously directed the films "Pay It Forward" and "Deep Impact."

The film is due to open in theaters on December 25th.
