Cold War — International Trailer

Winner of the Best Director Award at this year's Cannes Film Festival, "Cold War" is a black-and-white exploration of a smoky 1950s romance between a Polish jazz pianist and a Polish club singer who end up being needlessly torn apart by the hard-line politics of the Iron Curtain.

Polish-born filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski, who previously won the Best Foreign Film Oscar for his black-and-white Polish nun drama "Ida," writes and directs the Cannes-winning, decade-spanning 1950s film, which, as its title suggests, is set during the Cold War in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris.

The film, which is already touted as a shoe-in for a best foreign Oscar nom, stars Polish actor Tomasz Kot (Bikini Blue, Bogowie) and Polish actress Joanna Kulig (The Innocents, Ida).

"Cold War" will be released theatrically in the States on December 21st. The film, however, will first receive an UK release in August.

Cold War is a passionate love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, who are fatally mismatched and yet fatefully condemned to each other. Set against the background of the Cold War in the 1950's in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris--the film depicts an impossible love story in impossible times.
