Actress Jordana Spiro (from Netflix's "Ozark" and NBC's "Blindspot") makes her feature directorial debut with the Sundance-winning drama "Night Comes On," for which a trailer has been released.

The film, in which Spiro also co-wrote the screenplay with writer Angelica Nwandum, features a breakthrough performance by up-and-coming actress Dominique Fishback, who co-starred in the HBO miniseries "Show Me a Hero" and also recently appeared in the HBO series "The Deuce"and will co-star in the upcoming film "The Hate U Give."

The character-driven drama follows an 18-year-old African-American woman (Fishback) as she is released from juvenile detention and then sets out to avenge her mother's death after reuniting with her 10-year-old sister (played by newcomer Tatum Marilyn Hall).

Earlier this year, the film received glowing reviews at Sundance, where actress-turned-filmmaker Spiro, who also had her critically acclaimed short film "Skin" premiered at Park City back in 2012, was rewarded with the NEXT Innovator Award. It's a sign that Spiro might be setting herself up for a long and fruitful career behind the camera.

"Night Comes On" will be released in select theaters and on VOD beginning August 3rd.
