What if the kids from "Stranger Things" were hunting down a notorious serial killer rather than a supernatural monster from the Upside Down? Well, it would probably look something like this!

Check out the newly-released trailer for "Summer of '84," a retro-tastic mystery thriller about a group of 15-year-old suburban kids who believe their next-door neighbor is secretly a serial killer. The problem is, he's also a cop!

The film, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance, is directed by Canadian filmmakers Francois Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell, who are collectively known as RKSS. The trio previously wrote and directed 2015's SXSW-winning Mad Max-inspired teen actioner "Turbo Kid," which has since earned a cult following.

Written by first-time screenwriters Matt Leslie and Stephen J. Smith, "Summer of '84" features a cast of mostly young actors: Graham Verchere (TV's The Good Doctor), Judah Lewis (The Babysitter), Caleb Emery (TV's Scream Queens), Cory Gruter-Andrew (TV's The 100), and Tiera Skovbye (TV's Riverdale) play the young teenage sleuths, while Rich Sommer (from TV's Mad Men and Netflix's GLOW) is the suspected serial killer.

Clearly evoking nostalgic memories of '80s movies and influences, the film is following on the heels of the success of "Stranger Things" and "IT" -- which is to say that it has a good chance of becoming another cult favorite.

"Summer of '84" is getting a theatrical release on August 10th. It will also be released on VOD and Digital HD on August 24th.
