A brand-new trailer has been released for "The House with a Clock in Its Walls," horror director Eli Roth's upcoming big-screen adaptation of the 1973 children's book by renowned author John Bellairs and famed Gothic illustrator Edward Gorey.

The supernatural film, which is being produced under Steven Spielberg's production company Amblin Entertainment, casts Jack Black as an eccentric warlock named Jonathan Barnavelt. He lives in a spooky mansion full of secret passageways, hidden rooms, and magical furnishings.

Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett plays Barnavelt's next-door neighbor, Mrs. Zimmerman. She is a witch, who comes and goes as she pleases.

When his 10-year-old orphaned nephew (played by Owen Vaccaro) is sent to live with him, Barnavelt, as well as Mrs. Zimmerman, find themselves introducing the young boy to the magical world of witches and warlocks, including the dark history of Barnavelt's magical home, and the mysterious clock that was placed deep inside its walls by its previous owner.

Written by Eric Kripke (the creator of the long-running TV series "Supernatural") and co-starring Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, and Renee Elise Goldsberry, "The House with a Clock in Its Walls" will arrive in theaters September 21st.

In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town's sleepy facade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.
