The Darkest Minds — Promo Trailer: 'Are You One of Us?'

Check out a new 60-second promo trailer for "The Darkest Minds," the upcoming film adaptation of Alexandra Bracken's best-selling YA dystopian novel series about a fugitive group of teenage children with superhuman abilities.

The film stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games, Everything Everything) as a 16-year-old girl named Ruby. When a mysterious virus nearly wipes out the entire children population on Earth, Ruby and the rest of the remaining kid survivors discover that they all have developed superpowers as a result of the epidemic. But fearing the children have now become too dangerous and uncontrollable, the government has decided to place every child into rehabilitation camps. Ruby is one of several super-powered kids who have managed to escape, only to later join an underground network of teenage runaways, just as they are forming a unified insurgency against the government.

Acclaimed animation director Jennifer Yuh Nelson, whose directing credits the hit animated films "Kung Fu Panda 2" and "Kung Fu Panda 3," makes her live-action directorial debut with "The Darkest Minds," which also stars Harris Dickinson (FX's Trust) and Skylan Brooks (Netflix's The Get Down) with Mandy Moore (NBC's This is Us) as a compassionate government scientist and Gwendoline Christie (HBO's Game of Thrones) as an unsympathetic government tracker.

"The Darkest Minds" opens August 3rd.

When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.
