Creed II — Official Trailer

"Black Panther" star Michael B. Jordan is stepping back into the ring. And this time, he's fighting someone whose name is very familiar ... DRAGO!

Check out the just-released trailer for "Creed II," the continuation of the Rocky saga and the sequel to filmmaker Ryan Coogler's 2015 box-office smash, in which rising boxer Adonis "Creed" Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), the son of the late, great boxing champion Apollo Creed, has developed a collaborative partnership with his father's number one rival and best friend, former heavyweight champ and boxing legend Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone).

But even with Rocky at his side, serving as his coach and mentor, Adonis finds himself back in the ring and going up against his biggest boxing foe yet, Viktor Drago (played here by real-life Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu), who is, of course, the son of notorious Russian fighter Ivan Drago from "Rocky IV."

Filmmaker Steven Caple Jr., who wrote and helmed 2016's hit Sundance drama "The Land" and also directed episodes of the "Black-ish" spin-off series "Grown-ish," takes over the directing chores from Coogler, who remains as an executive producer on the upcoming film, which was co-written by Stallone and Cheo Hodari Coker (creator of Netflix's Marvel superhero series "Luke Cage").

Again co-starring Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad, "Creed II" is slated for a Thanksgiving release, opening nationwide on November 21st.

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family's past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing's more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can't escape your history.
