Boaz Yakin, the acclaimed director of the Denzel Washington-starring football drama "Remember the Titans," and also the writer-director of the hit canine movie "Max" and the Sundance-winning crime drama "Fresh," puts his own spin on the young-adult Gothic horror genre with "Boarding School," for which a trailer has been released.

The film stars Luke Prael (who will also be seen in Bo Burnham's coming-of-age Sundance sensation "Eighth Grade") as a 12-year-old boy named Jacob, who, after being caught wearing women's dresses by his uptight father, is suddenly sent away to live at a private boarding school for young teenage misfits. But once there, Jacob is shocked to discover that the school's creepy principal (played by veteran character actor Will Patton) is more maniacal than intellectual.

Co-starring Sterling Jerins (The Conjuring), Tammy Blanchard (Into the Woods), and Samantha Mathis (FX's The Strain), "Boarding School" will be released in select theaters and on VOD and Digital HD August 31st. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
When troubled 12-year-old Jacob Felsen is sent away to boarding school, he enters every kid's worst nightmare: A creepy old mansion, deserted except for six other teenage misfits and two menacing and mysterious teachers.
