Here's the U.S. trailer for "Incident in a Ghostland," the new horror thriller from French horror filmmaker Pascal Laugier, whose credits include the Jessica Biel-starring boogeyman thriller "The Tall Man" and the cult French torture horror "Martyrs."

The film, which is due to hit U.S. theaters and VOD on June 22nd, stars Crystal Reed (from FOX's "Gotham" and MTV's "Teen Wolf") as a successful horror novelist who, after writing a new best-seller that's based on a traumatic event from her past, in which her family was brutally attack by a raving psychopath, returns to her childhood home and reunites with her now-psychologically scarred sister (played here by Anastasia Phillips, from CW's "Reign").

The cast also includes French-Canadian recording artist/actress Mylene Farmer as the sisters' eccentric Aunt with supporting turns from Emilia Jones (TV's Utopia) and Taylor Hickson (Deadpool) who play the sisters as teenagers in flashback scenes.

(Side note: 20-year-old actress Taylor Hickson suffered a serious facial injury while filming this movie. The left side of her face was badly sliced opened when a glass pane unexpectedly shattered during one of her intense horror scenes.

Evidently, the actress was directed to pound a door with a stained-glass window with her fists. So when the glass suddenly shattered, her head and upper body went through the window, slicing her face wide open. She required approximately 70 stitches, and now has a permanent face scar. Hickson went on to sue the producers of the film, claiming that they failed to secure the set with safety glass or even provide the actress with a stunt double.

Hickson has since undergone laser and silicone treatment and plastic surgery to lessen the appearance of her scar. She will next appear in Syfy's comic-book-based teen assassin series "Deadly Class," which is due out in 2019.)

synopsis:
Following her aunt's death, Colleen and her daughters inherit her house. However, during their first night in their new home, murderers enter the home, putting Colleen in a situation where she must fight to save her daughters' lives. When the girls suffer a terrible trauma during the night, their disparate personalities diverge even further. The eldest daughter, Beth, is said to become a famous horror author with a perfect family and life in Los Angeles, while her sister, Vera, can’t cope, and loses her mind faced to an unshakable sense of paranoia. Sixteen years later the daughters and mother reunite at the house where Colleen and Vera continue to reside. It is then that strange events begin to take place.
