A brand-new trailer has been released for "Alpha," the Ice Age adventure thriller starring Kodi Smit-McPhee (aka the young Nightcrawler from the "X-Men" movies) as a prehistoric boy hunter who, while on his first hunt, is accidentally left behind by his tribe, and as a result is forced to embark on an epic life-altering journey across the European continent, during which he befriends a wild wolf.

The 3D movie is directed by Albert Hughes, of the Hughes Brothers (Menace II Society, Dead Presidents). It's Albert's feature solo debut, and his first directed film since co-directing "The Book of Eli" with his twin brother, Allen.

The cast also includes Johannes Haukur Johannesson (HBO's Game of Thrones), Leonor Varela (Blade II), Mercedes de la Zerda (Hemlock Grove), and Natassia Malthe (Elektra).

"Alpha" is currently slated for an August 17th theatrical release. Watch the new trailer, above.
