John Carpenter's iconic masked boogeyman killer Michael Myers is returning to the big screen this year with a new terrifying chapter in the "Halloween" saga. And it looks like the only person who can stop him is none other than sharp-shooting grandma Laurie Strode, once again played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

Check out the first official trailer for "Halloween," the upcoming reboot/sequel to Carpenter's classic 1978 horror movie, in which filmmaker David Gordon Green (Stronger, Pineapple Express) has stepped in to direct from a script he co-wrote with self-described "Halloween" fanboy Danny McBride and "Vice Principals" writer Jeff Fradley.

Executive produced by John Carpenter (who also served as a creative consultant) alongside horror producer Jason Blum, of Blumhouse Productions, the film takes place four decades after the events of the original thriller. And since then, Mike Myers has been locked up in a maximum-security jailhouse. But when he suddenly escapes from prison -- on Halloween day, no less, a pistol-toting, gray-haired Laurie Strode (Curtis) takes it upon herself to take the law in her own hands. This is one grandmother you don't want to mess with.

Also, starring Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Virginia Gardner, with Nick Castle returning as Michael Myers for the first time since the original, "Halloween" is scheduled for an October 19th theatrical release.
