Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly star as a couple of hired gunslingers and bickering brothers who have been assigned to hunt down a thieving prospector in the trailer for "The Sisters Brothers," a darkly comic western thriller that also stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rogue One's Riz Ahmed.

The film is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by author Patrick Dewitt, which is set in 1851 Oregon during the great California Gold Rush, but filled with a cast of colorful characters that have been compared to the types you would see in a Coen Brothers comedy.

"The Sisters Brothers" hails from acclaimed French filmmaker Jacques Audiard, whose credits include the Oscar-nominated foreign crime saga "A Prophet," the Marion Cotillard-Matthias Schoenaerts-starring romantic drama "Rust and Bone," and most recently the Palme D'Or-winning immigrant thriller "Dheepan."

The film is slated for a September 21st theatrical release. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer, above.
