The very first trailer has been released for "Mowgli," the forthcoming big-screen adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic novel "The Jungle Book," which is directed by famed motion-capture artist and English actor Andy Serkis.

Starring kid actor Rohan Chand (Bad Words, The Hundred-Foot Journey) as the titular Mowgli and Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto as Messua, who adopts the wild Mowgli, and co-starring Matthew Rhys (FX's The Americans) as British explorer John Lockwood, the upcoming 3D film -- much like Disney's 2016 blockbuster version -- is incorporating live action with photo-realistic computer-generated animals and tells the adventurous story about how a young Indian boy is raised in the jungle by a family of wolves.

The movie features motion capture performances, which includes the voices of Oscar winner Christian Bale as the cunning panther, Bagheera; Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as the sinister snake, Kaa; Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan; Oscar nominee Naomie Harris as Mowgli's wolf mother Nisha and Andy Serkis as the wise bear, Baloo.

Also, directed by Serkis, his second outing as a film director following his acclaimed directorial debut with 2017's "Breathe," the film also features voice performances by Peter Mullan, Jack Reynor, Eddie Marsan, and Tom Hollander.

Produced by film producer Steve Kloves (of the "Harry Potter" and "Fantastic Beasts" films) and adapted for the screen by Kloves' daughter, first-time screenwriter Callie Kloves, "Mowgli" will be hitting theaters on October 19th.

synopsis:
Motion capture and live action are blended for "Mowgli," a new, big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic The Jungle Book. The film features an impressive roster of stars under the direction of Andy Serkis.

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.
