Well, would ya look at that! It seems the most decorated police officers in the city are Melissa McCarthy and her foul-mouthed partner, who happens to be a freakin' blue puppet.

Check out the newly-released red band trailer for "The Happytime Murders," a raunchy and filthy puppet cop comedy from award-winning puppeteer/director Brian Henson, of The Jim Henson Company.

The film stars Melissa McCarthy as a streetwise LAPD detective named Connie Edwards. When someone starts killing off former cast members of a beloved '80s puppet television show, Connie is forced to team up with her old puppet partner, a once decorated officer, but now a sleazy private eye named Phil Philips (performed by veteran Muppet puppeteer Bill Barretta). But as soon as Connie and Phil hit the streets, the puppet body count goes way up, attracting the attention of a couple of no-nonsense FBI agents (played by Joel McHale and Leslie David Baker).

Co-starring Maya Rudolph and Elizabeth Banks, "The Happytime Murders" is hitting theaters August 24th.

synopsis:
No Sesame. All Street. THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS is a filthy comedy set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with a shared secret, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together again to solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved classic puppet television show.
