ABC's The Rookie — Official Trailer

added: Tue, May 15th '18

Nathan Fillion is here to protect and serve. Watch the former "Castle" and "Firefly" star as he becomes the newest and the OLDEST rookie policeman on the Los Angeles police department in the official trailer for ABC's new cop series "The Rookie."

Inspired by a true story, the forthcoming fall show casts Fillion as John Nolan, a forty-year-old man who, after facing death during an intense bank robbery, has decided to embark on a new career and pursue his lifelong dream of being an LAPD officer.

Created and written by Alexi Hawley (Castle, The Following, State of Affairs), the series also stars Richard T. Jones (Judging Amy), Afton Williamson (The Night Of), Alyssa Diaz (Ray Donovan, Zoo), Melissa O'Neil (Dark Matter), Mercedes Mason (Fear the Walking Dead), and Eric Winter (Days of Our Lives).

"The Rookie" will air on Tuesday nights beginning sometime in the fall. To watch more previews for ABC's new fall shows, click here.

Starting over isn't easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LAPD officer. As the force's oldest rookie, he's met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can't keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he'll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.
