Behold the very first trailer for filmmaker Shane Black's "The Predator," the latest chapter in the sci-fi horror franchise, which originated with the classic 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie.

Boyd Holbrook, who played the mutant-hunting villain Donald Pierce in last year's hit Wolverine film "Logan," is leading the cast in this new reboot version, playing a former military assassin whose young son (played by Jacob Tremblay, star of "Room" and "Wonder") somehow activates the arrival of an ancient alien predator on Earth. Now Holbrook's character must team up with a scientist (X-Men: Apocalypse's Olivia Munn) and embark on a mission to kill the deadly alien hunter before it kills everyone on Earth.

In addition to Holbrook, Tremblay, and Munn, the cast also includes Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), comedian Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid's Tale), Niall Matter (TV's Eureka), Augusto Aguilera (TV's Chasing Life), Thomas Jane (The Mist), and Jake Busey (Starship Troopers).

The film is directed and co-written by Shane Black, a former actor who actually played the soldier "Hawkins" in the original "Predator" film, but is perhaps best known for writing and directing "Iron Man 3" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" as well as writing the original screenplay for "Lethal Weapon." Black also previously made the Russell Crowe-Ryan Gosling detective comedy "The Nice Guys."

"The Predator" is hitting theaters on September 14th.
