BBC has released an international trailer for "A Very English Scandal," the three-part British mini-series that stars Hugh Grant as Jeremy Thorpe, a real-life British politician whose career was indelibly tarnished by a 1970s scandal involving an alleged homosexual relationship with former male model Norman Scott (played here by James Bond's "Q" actor Ben Whishaw).

Chronicling the events that led to a highly publicized trial during which the former leader of the British Liberal Party was accused of conspiring to assassinate his gay lover, the BBC drama hails from acclaimed TV producer-writer Russell T. Davies (Doctor Who, Torchwood, Queer as Folk) and is directed by Oscar-nominated helmer Stephen Frears (The Queen, Florence Foster Jenkins, Philomena).

Based on John Preston's best-selling historical book, "A Very English Scandal" is coming soon and will be released in the UK on BBC and in the US on Amazon.

In one of the biggest scandals in British parliamentary history, a suave, charismatic party leader was accused of plotting to murder his former boyfriend. A new BBC drama is retelling the extraordinary story of Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe (played by Hugh Grant) and his lover Norman Scott (Ben Whishaw).
