Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) is a newly single mother trying to raise her young daughters amidst the swinging '70s culture of Beverly Hills in the upcoming Paramount Network series "American Woman," for which an official trailer has been released.

Also starring Mena Suvari (from "American Beauty" and "American Pie") and Jennifer Bartels (truTV's "Friends of the People") as Silverstone's two closest friends, "American Woman" hails from executive producers John Wells (Shameless, ER, West Wing) and John Riggi (30 Rock, The Larry Sanders Show).

The 12-episode dramedy is loosely based on the life of former '70s child actress-turned-"Real Housewife of Beverly Hills" star Kyle Richards, who is also serving as co-executive producer.

Directed by TV helmer Alex Hardcastle (Grace and Frankie, You're the Worst, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), "American Woman" is set to premiere Thursday, June 7th on the Paramount Network (formerly known as Spike TV).

Inspired by the upbringing of co-executive producer and Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Kyle Richards, AMERICAN WOMAN follows an unconventional mom named Bonnie (Alicia Silverstone) struggling to raise her daughters with the help of her two best friends Kathleen (Mena Suvari) and Diana (Jennifer Bartels) as they discover their own brand of independence amid the rise of second-wave feminism in the 1970s.
