Young Han Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich and "Ready Player One" star Tye Sheridan play two young American soldiers trying to stay alive on the battlefield in the trailer for the upcoming Iraq War drama "The Yellow Birds," which also stars Jennifer Aniston, Toni Collette, Jack Huston, and Jason Patric.

Based on the best-selling novel written by Iraq War veteran/author Kevin Powers, the film, which is told through a series of flashbacks, revolves around a criminal investigation concerning two young Army privates (Ehrenreich and Sheridan) who are sent to fight in the Middle East under the shaky command of a troubled Sargent (Huston).

Aniston and Collette play the worried mothers of the young soldiers, while Patric plays a military investigator.

Filmmaker Alexandre Moors (Blue Caprice) directs the film from an adapted script penned by David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints) and R.F.I. Porto (Blue Caprice).

"The Yellow Birds" is slated for a June 15th theatrical release, but will first be made available exclusively on DirecTV on May 17th.

synopsis:
Two young men, Daniel Murphy (Tye Sheridan) and Brandon Bartle (Alden Ehrenreich), enlist in the army and are deployed to fight in the Iraq War. After an unthinkable tragedy, the returning soldier struggles to balance his promise of silence with the truth and a mourning mother's (Jennifer Aniston) search for peace.

Based on Kevin Powers' New York Times best seller, THE YELLOW BIRDS explores the bond among servicemen, the difficulties of coming home and the toll war takes on its soldiers and their families.
