Check out the official trailer for "Strange Angel," a new, original streaming drama series for CBS All Access, starring Jack Reynor (Sing Street), Rupert Friend (Homeland), and Bella Heathcote (The Man in the High Castle).

Executive produced by Ridley Scott, the 1940s period drama is based on George Pendle's biographical book about the incredible life of maverick rocket scientist John Parsons (played here by Reynor) who, despite working his way up from janitor to pioneering rocket propulsion engineer, was later known for consorting with questionable characters after getting involved in a black magic sex cult in Los Angeles during the heyday of the rocket age.

In addition to Reynor, Friend, and Heathcote, the cast also includes Rade Serbedzija (Taken 2), Michael Gaston (Bridge of Spies), Elena Satine (The Gifted), Zack Pearlman (The Intern), Peter Mark Kendall (The Americans), Greg Wise (Effie Gray), and Keye Chen (Silicon Valley).

Acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery (A Ghost Story, Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Pete's Dragon) is directing the pilot episode of the CBS web series. Lowery will also serve as an executive producer.

Created and written by "Black Swan" scribe Mark Heyman, "Strange Angel" is currently scheduled to premiere Thursday June 14th, streaming exclusively on CBS All Access.

synopsis:
Strange Angel, a drama series created by Mark Heyman (Black Swan, The Wrestler) and based on George Pendle's book of the same name, explores the dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction.

The story follows the life of Jack Parsons, a mysterious and brilliant man in 1940s Los Angeles, who by day helps birth the entirely unknown discipline of American rocketry, and by night is a performer of sex magick rituals and a disciple to occultist Aleister Crowley.
