Netflix has released the official U.S. trailer for "Manhunt," the Chinese-Japanese crime thriller from legendary action director John Woo.
The film is a remake of a 1976 Japanese thriller based on a pulpy Japanese crime novel of the same name by Juko Nishimura, which follows a wrongly accused man who, after being framed for murder, is forced to go on the run to clear his name.
With most of the action set in Osaka, Japan, the film is led by Chinese actor Zhang Hanyu (The Great Wall, The Taking of Tiger Mountain) as the unjustly accused Chinese lawyer while Japanese actor Masaharu Fukuyama (Like Father Like Son) plays the hard-boiled Japanese detective hot on his tail.
The cast also includes Chinese singer/actress Qi Wei (Young Sherlock), and South Korean actress Ha Jiwon (Tidal Wave, The Huntresses).
Said to be a return to form for Woo, harking back to his classic Hong Kong "gun-fu" films, "Manhunt" will start streaming next week in the U.S. on Netflix, beginning May 4th.
