When a young teenage boy discovers a mysterious high-tech weapon, he finds himself going on the run with his recently released ex-con brother.

Check out the official trailer for "KIN," a science-fiction-tinged action thriller starring Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Sing Street) as a reformed ex-convict who, after being released from prison, wants to rekindle a relationship with his younger, adopted brother (played by newcomer Myles Truitt). But when he discovers his brother has accidentally gotten his hands on a strange futuristic gun that can blast highly-explosive laser beams, it immediately puts them in the crosshairs of some really dangerous people, including a psychopathic goon (played by James Franco).

Co-starring Zoe Kravitz, Carrie Coon, and Dennis Quaid, "KIN" is based on the 2015 short film "Bag Man" created by filmmaking twin Australian brothers Jonathan and Josh Baker, who are making their feature film debut.

Hailing from the same producers that brought you "Arrival" and "Stranger Things," "KIN" will be released in theaters on August 31st.
