An international trailer has been released for "Anon," the latest high-concept sci-fi thriller from Andrew Niccol, the writer and director of "Gattaca," "In Time," "Lord of War," and "Good Kill."
Starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried, the film takes place in the near future where everyone has now been implanted with augmented reality vision, making privacy a thing of the past.
Owen plays a homicide detective who, while looking to solve a series of puzzling assassination killings, goes undercover to catch a mysterious "ghost" assassin (Seyfried) who sees to be able to hide her true identify by "hacking" into the eyes of her victims.
Co-starring Colm Feore (House of Cards, The Chronicles of Riddick) as a fellow homicide detective, "Anon" is currently scheduled to open internationally in the U.K. on May 11th. As of yet, there is no official U.S. release date. (Update: Netflix will release the film in the U.S. on May 4th.)
synopsis:
In ANON Sal Frieland (Clive Owen) is faced with a series of shocking murders which appear to be linked. Unable to identify the killers it soon becomes apparent that what they have in common signals a major breakdown in the system on which society has come to rely.
As he delves into the case, Frieland encounters a woman seemingly with no identity (Amanda Seyfried). Something he initially assumes is a minor glitch becomes the first clue that security of 'The Mind's Eye' has been compromised, sending Frieland off on a mission to find a someone who effectively doesn’t exist before they kill again.
