Netflix has released the official trailer for "The Innocents," a new British supernatural series about a young teenage couple whose love is tested when one of them (a teen girl named June) begins to manifest a bizarre shape-shifting ability.

The eight-episode thriller stars Sorcha Groundsell (Clique, Far from the Apple Tree) and Percelle Ascott (Wizards vs. Aliens) as the young, conflicted couple, while Guy Pearce (Memento, Alien Covenant) plays the mysterious scientist who appears to be the one who has brought out June's extraordinary superhuman ability to physically transform herself into a strange, brawny man (played by Icelandic actor Johannes Haukur Johannesson, of Game of Thrones and Atomic Blonde).

The Netflix series is created and written by newcomers Hania Elkington and Simon Duric, who is a professional story board artist whose credits include drawing story boards for "The Crown," "McMafia," "Black Mirror," and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," among others.

With episodes helmed by British TV directors Jamie Donoughue (The Last Kingdom) and Farren Blackburn (Daredevil, Doctor Who), "The Innocents: Season 1" is set to premiere on Netflix August 24th.
