Welcome to the future, where drones are to be feared and avoided at all costs. Which seems to be the main gist of "Hover," a SYFY original movie set in a dystopian near-future where flying A.I. drones have been designed to police and patrol what's left of the human population in the wake of a deadly, catastrophic drought.

Aussie actress Cleopatra Coleman, one of the current cast members of Will Forte's post-apocalyptic comedy series "The Last Man on Earth," not only stars in this indie sci-fi thriller, but also wrote the screenplay as well. She plays a young care provider investigating the unsolved murder of her partner, only to find herself embroiled in a dangerous government conspiracy, involving rogue security drones.

Directed by indie sci-fi filmmaker Matt Osterman (400 Days) and co-starring Shane Coffey (Pretty Little Liars), Craig muMs Grant (Good Time), David Jensen (Midnight Special), and Beth Grant (The Mindy Project), "Hover" is getting a theatrical release on June 29th before arriving on VOD and Digital HD on July 3rd. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
HOVER takes place in the near future, where environmental strain has caused food shortages around the world. Technology provides a narrow path forward, with agricultural drones maximizing the yield from what land remains. Two compassionate care providers, Claudia (Coleman) and her mentor John (Craig muMs Grant), work to assist sick farmland inhabitants in ending their lives. After John dies under mysterious circumstances, a group of locals helps Claudia to uncover a deadly connection between the health of her clients and the technology they are using.
