Shortly after announcing it will be the opening film for this year's Cannes Film Festival, the very first international trailer has been released for "Everybody Knows," a Spanish family-centric mystery thriller that stars Oscar-winners Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.

Hailing from the critically acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, whose credits include the Oscar-winning foreign dramas "A Separation" and "The Salesman," the Spanish-language, Madrid-set film focuses on a family reunion that goes seriously awry when a night-long blackout inadvertently dredges up a dark family secret.

Co-starring acclaimed Argentine actor Ricardo Darin (The Secret in Their Eyes) and Spanish actress Barbara Lennie (The Skin I Live In), "Everybody Knows" is making its world premiere next month in France at the prestigious international film festival.

synopsis:
Filmmaker Asghar Farhadi's 8th feature film, shot entirely in Spanish on the Iberian Peninsula, charts the story of Laura, who lives with her husband and children in Buenos Aires. When they return together to her native village in Spain for a family celebration, an unexpected event changes the course of their lives. The family, its ties and the moral choices imposed on them lie, as in every one of Farhadi's scripts, at the heart of the plot.
