Fresh from his uncanny portrayal of cult filmmaker Tommy Wiseau in the acclaimed film "The Disaster Artist," James Franco is yet again turning (and scratching) heads with another scene-chewing performance -- this time, he's channeling his inner Mad Max.

Check out the official trailer for "Future World," a post-apocalyptic robot thriller that stars British model-actress Suki Waterhouse (from "The Bad Batch") as a newly-activated "synthetic" woman who has been programmed with special fighting abilities, and becomes a much sought-after trophy for ruthless gang lords.

Franco, who also is sharing co-directing duties with cinematographer Bruce Thierry Cheung (In Dubious Battle, The Adderall Diaries), plays one of the sinister ringleaders in the upcoming film, which also co-stars Milla Jovovich, Jeffrey Wahlberg, Margarita Levieva, Tamzin Brown with guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Lucy Liu and Method Man.

The film is expected to be released in theaters and VOD on May 25th.

synopsis:
In a post-apocalyptic world, where water and gasoline have long since dried-up, a Prince from the Oasis (one of the last known safe-havens) must venture out to find medicine for the ailing Queen (Lucy Liu), but along the way he gets mixed up with The Warlord (James Franco) and his robot Ash (Suki Waterhouse), which leads to a daring journey through the desolate Wastelands.
