British punk rockers and mysterious female aliens collide in the new trailer for "How to Talk to Girls at Parties."

Starring Tony Award-winning Broadway star Alex Sharp (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) and Elle Fanning (The Beguiled, Maleficent), the film is based on the 2006 genre-bending short story by celebrated comic book and fantasy writer Neil Gaiman.

Set in 1970s London, the psychedelic-esque drama is a coming-of-age fable about an English punk-rock teenager named Enn (Sharp) who, while attending a house party, meets and falls for an enigmatic girl named Zan (Fanning), only to later discover that she's an extraterrestrial traveler from another galaxy.

Nicole Kidman glams it up as a punk-rock den mother, co-starring alongside English comedian Matt Lucas in the film, which is directed by John Cameron Mitchell, star/director/creator of the cult rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

After premiering to tepid reviews last summer at the Cannes Film Festival, "How to Talk to Girls at Parties" will be getting a U.S. release on May 18th.

From the raucous dual imaginations of fantasy laureate Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Coraline) and glam-rock multi-hyphenate John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Itch, Shortbus) comes the electrifying and singular pop extravaganza film, How To Talk To Girls At Parties.

Enn (Alex Sharp) is a shy suburban London teenager in 1977, sneaking out with his best friends to after-hours punk parties. One night they stumble upon a bizarre gathering of sexy teenagers who seem like they are from another planet. In fact, they are from another planet, visiting Earth to complete a mysterious rite of passage. That doesn't stop Enn from falling madly in love with Zan (Elle Fanning), a beautiful and rebellious alien teenager who, despite her allegiance to her strange colony, is fascinated by Enn. Together they embark on a delirious adventure through the kinetic punk rock world of 1970s London, inadvertently setting off a series of events that will lead to the ultimate showdown of punks vs. aliens, and test the limits of how far each of them will go for true love.
