An innocent schoolyard game is blown way out of proportion in the first official trailer for the upcoming ensemble comedy "Tag," which stars Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis, Rashida Jones, Isla Fisher, Leslie Bibb, Hannibal Buress, Jon Hamm, and Jeremy Renner
Based on a "true story" from a Wall Street Journal article, the film follows a group of lifelong friends as they continue to play a never-ending game of tag. In what started out as a simple game for children has now blown up to epic proportions, becoming an annual tradition among highly competitive friends who clearly don't know how to quit.
Directed by comedy television helmer Jeff Tomsic (Broad City, The Detour, Idiotsitter) and written by Rob McKittrick (Waiting) and Mark Steilen (Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle) with a screen story by Steilen and based on WSJ journalist Russell Adams' article "It Takes Planning, Caution to Avoid Being It," the film will be hitting theaters this summer, beginning June 15th.
synopsis:
For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they've been playing since the first grade--risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: "You're It!"
This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they're coming...and he's ready.
Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy "Tag" shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.
