Presented by filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, executive produced by experimental music producer Flying Lotus, and directed by commercial helmer and video game developer Eddie Alcazar, "Perfect" is a retro-style science-fiction thriller about a young troubled teen who, to rid himself of his violent past, is sent to a mysterious genetic-engineering clinic, only to discover the price of attaining perfection will cost him everything, including his mind, body and soul.

Garrett Wareing (Independence Day: Resurgence) stars as the boy while Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) appears in the film as the boy's mother. The rest of the cast includes Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), Tao Okamoto (The Man in the High Castle), and Maurice Compte (Narcos).

Featuring an original score by Flying Lotus and marking the feature debut of director Eddie Alcazar, who previously made a Flying Lotus-produced experimental short called "Fu-kkkyouuu," "Perfect" is currently set to make its world premiere this weekend in Austin, Texas at the SXSW Film Festival. As such, the makers of the film have released a trippy promotional trailer. Check it out, above.

synopsis:
A boy in a cold and stark modern house, in a vaguely science fictional world, is seduced by advertisements of perfection to install implantable characteristics directly into his body. The implants heal his dark, twisted visions, but come with a corporeal cost. He persists on applying them, hoping to reach perfection, but ultimately he discovers that purity of mind is not exactly as he's imagined.
