Tessa Thompson, the breakout star of "Creed" and "Thor: Ragnarok," plays a rookie correctional officer tasked with guarding a slippery convict (played by Oscar-winner Melissa Leo) in the trailer for the road-trip, prison dramedy "Furlough."

Co-starring Whoopi Goldberg as Thompson's aging mother and comedian Erik Griffin (I'm Dying Up Here) as Thompson's supervisor, the film focuses on a contentious yet poignant road trip between Thompson's and Leo's characters, a fledgling prison guard and a shifty inmate who is allowed to visit her dying mother on a weekend furlough.

Laurie Collyer, writer-director of the acclaimed Maggie Gyllenhaal-starring drama "Sherrybaby," directs the character-driven dramedy, which also features appearances by Anna Paquin (True Blood), Edgar Ramirez (The Assassination of Gianni Versace), and La La Anthony (Power).

"Furlough" is hitting theaters and VOD on March 16th.
