Check out the newly released trailer for "King in the Wilderness," the new HBO documentary that traces the final years in the life of civil-rights icon Martin Luther King Jr, which will examine the turbulent period between the Voting Rights Act and King's 1968 assassination.

Taking a thoughtful and insightful look at his leadership and nonviolent teachings as told in his own words through rare archival footage, the HBO film offers a timely portrait of a beloved American hero who faced seemingly insurmountable obstacles in an enduring quest for racial equality.

Produced and directed by award-winning documentarian Peter Kunhardt (Living with Lincoln, Gloria: In Her Own Words, Becoming Warren Buffett), "King in the Wilderness" premiered to strong reviews earlier this year at Sundance. It's now scheduled to debut on HBO beginning Monday, April 2nd. (Meanwhile, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of King's assassination).
