Check out the newly released festival teaser for "Prospect," an upcoming indie sci-fi thriller, starring Jay Duplass (Transparent) and Pedro Pascal (Narcos, Game of Thrones), which is making its world premiere later this week at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival.

Marking the debut feature of Seattle-based filmmakers Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell, "Prospect" is based on their 2014 short film of the same name.

The story, which is kind of like the science-fiction space version of the 19th Century Gold Rush era, revolves around a teenage girl (played by newcomer Sophie Thatcher) and her treasure-hunting father (Duplass) as they try to strike it rich by traveling to a toxic alien planet to search for rare and precious stones. But when her father is suddenly attacked by space bandits and ruthless claim-jumpers (Pascal), the teen girl must muster the courage to protect their findings and save her father's life.

Co-starring Andre Royo (Empire, The Wire), Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), and Anwan Glover (The Deuce, The Wire), "Prospect" is slated to screen on Saturday, March 10th at SXSW where it will look for distribution opportunities.

synopsis:
A teenage girl and her father travel to a remote alien moon, aiming to strike it rich. They've secured a contract to harvest a large deposit of the elusive gems hidden in the depths of the moon's toxic forest. But there are others roving the wilderness and the job quickly devolves into a fight to survive. Forced to contend not only with the forest's other ruthless inhabitants, but with her own father's greed-addled judgment, the girl finds she must carve her own path to escape.
