After just having her Oscar dreams clipped, "Ladybird" star Saoirse Ronan might just fly high again with her follow-up "The Seagull." Check out the trailer for the upcoming slice-of-life drama that's based on the classic 19th-century Anton Chekhov stage play of the same name.

Starring opposite Ronan is four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening as an aging actress who visits her brother at a secluded country estate when she meets Nina (Ronan), a free-spirited young woman who is dating her son Konstantin (Billy Howle). But things are about to heat up when a successful novelist (Corey Stoll) arrives and captures Nina's full attention, which displeases Konstantine but not his long-time secret admirer Masha (Elisabeth Moss), an overly dramatic and depressive woman who always wears black.

Directed by Michael Mayer (Flicka) and written by American playwright Stephen Karam, of the 2016 Tony Award-winning play "The Humans," the film also co-stars Brian Dennehy, Mare Winningham, Michael Zegen, Jon Tenney, and Glenn Fleshler.

"The Seagull" starts flying its way into select theaters on May 11th.

synopsis:
THE SEAGULL is the heartbreaking and funny story of friends and lovers, all of whom are in love with the wrong person. The movie is timely in its depiction of the tragic consequences of narcissism, particularly on young dreams and romantic love.
