He has the power to submerge himself in total darkness. She has the power to generate daggers made of light. Together, they make a great superhero team. But first, they will need to meet.

Check out a new 60-second promo trailer for Marvel's "Cloak & Dagger," the upcoming television series that's based on the 1980s superhero duo of the same name, and stars Aubrey Joseph (HBO's The Night Of) and Olivia Holt (Disney's Kickin' It) as the titular superheroes.

Created for the young adult-geared cable network Freeform by television writer-producer Joe Pokaski (Marvel's Daredevil, Heroes), the ten-episode drama will depict the origin story of Cloak and Dagger, beginning with their high school years when they were just a couple of young teenagers who didn't know each other or knew they had superpowers.

Tyrone Johnson (a.k.a. Cloak) is a high school athlete (played by Joseph) who is barely coming into his own when a chance encounter with Tandy Bowen (a.k.a. Dagger), a young pick-pocketing runaway (played by Holt), changes his life forever. It's the moment their hands touch that these two discover their powers are somehow linked to one another.

Co-starring Gloria Reuben (ER), Miles Mussenden (Queen Sugar), and Andrea Roth (Rescue Me) as the kids' respective parents, Marvel's "Cloak & Dagger" will launch Thursday, June 7th with a special two-hour premiere on Freeform.

"Marvel's Cloak & Dagger" is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) -- two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
