Acclaimed French filmmaker Arnaud Desplechin (Kings and Queen, A Christmas Tale, Jimmy P) once again teams up with his frequent collaborator, French actor Mathieu Amalric (Quantum of Solace, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), for another thoughtful examination of love, lost and rediscovery.

Check out the new U.S. trailer for "Ismael's Ghosts," the French-language relationship drama that also stars Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) and British-French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg (Nymphomaniac, Independence Day: Resurgence).

The film revolves around a complicated love triangle between a dispirited filmmaker (Amalric), the woman he's fallen for (Gainsbourg), and the filmmaker's ex-wife (Cotillard) who was thought to be long dead but has miraculously returned after twenty years of being missing.

"Ismael's Ghosts," which premiered last year at the Cannes Film Festival, is getting a U.S. theatrical release next month, beginning on March 23rd.

synopsis:
Ismael Vuillard makes films. He is in the middle of one about Ivan, an atypical diplomat inspired by his brother. Along with Bloom, his master and father-in-law, Ismael still mourns the death of Carlotta, twenty years earlier. Yet he has started his life over again with Sylvia. Sylvia is his light. Then Carlotta returns from the dead. Sylvia runs away. Ismael rejects Carlotta. Driven mad by these ordeals, he abandons the shoot for his family home in Roubaix. There, he lives as a recluse, besieged by his ghosts.
