STARZ has released the first official trailer for their new original series "Vida," which is set in a Latino neighborhood in East Los Angeles and centers around two Mexican-American sisters who are forced to return home when their mother unexpectedly passes away.

Created by Mexican-born playwright and television writer-producer Tanya Saracho (How to Get Away with Murder, Looking), the half-hour dramedy series stars Mishel Prada (from the web-series "Fear the Walking Dead: Passage") and telenovela star Melissa Barrera (Siempre Tuya Acapulco, Tanto Amor).

Loosely based on a short story by Richard Villegas Jr., "Vida" is one of three Latino-themed projects that's being develop at Starz. It's also the first to get an official air date: Sunday, May 6th.

Alonso Ruizpalacios, the director of the award-winning Mexican film "Gueros," directs the pilot.

You can take the girl out of the Eastside, but you can't take the Eastside out of the girl.

"Vida" is a half-hour drama series focusing on two Mexican-American sisters from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn't be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and surprising truth about their mother's identity.
