Jay Duplass (Transparent, Togetherness) may have started his career as merely a filmmaker, but recently he is proving to be a natural actor with depth.

In the new small-town drama "Outside In," Duplass is sharing intimate scenes with four-time Emmy winner Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie, The Sopranos). And judging by the newly-released trailer, Duplass doesn't look out of place or unmatched. He's up for the challenge, playing a wrongly convicted man who is finally freed from prison after 20 years.

Falco plays Duplass's former high school teacher, a married mother of a teenage daughter who has worked diligently as his advocate and has been fighting tirelessly for his release for the past several years. The film really gets going when their platonic relationship suddenly develops into a romantic affair, possibly brought on by their shared feelings of loneliness and gratitude.

Directed by film and TV director Lynn Shelton (Laggies, TV's Fresh Off the Boat, Your Sister's Sister) who also co-wrote the script with Duplass, "Outside In" premiered to strong reviews last fall at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival and is currently scheduled to screen next month at SXSW.

Co-starring Kaitlyn Dever (Detroit) as Falco's daughter and Ben Schwartz (Parks and Rec) as Duplass's brother, "Outside In" is also executive produced by Jay and his brother Mark Duplass. The film is opening in New York and Los Angeles on March 30th with a Digital and VOD release slated for April 3rd.
