Tom Cruise is a mad man. The 55-year-old actor who, prefers to do most of his own stunts in his action films, may have topped himself with this one.

Despite breaking his ankle while filming a dangerous leaping stunt for the upcoming "Mission: Impossible - Fallout," Cruise also pushed himself for another extremely dicey, death-defying sequence in the film, in which he piloted a helicopter all by himself. The problem was, he needed to learn how to properly fly a helicopter before tackling such a complicated feat.

"It takes someone like 3 months of 8-hour days just to become a novice helicopter," says "Fallout" director Christopher McQuarrie in a newly-released behind-the-scenes featurette for Cruise's sixth "Mission: Impossible" movie. "Tom needed to work around the clock to reach that level of skill."

For his hard work, the "Top Gun" star may have outdone himself. The result is certainly electrifying to watch as viewers can clearly see he's the only pilot in the helicopter's cockpit. Talk about a mission impossible.

"Mission: Impossible - Fallout," which also stars Superman's Henry Cavill as Ethan Hunt's new mustachioed rival, is coming to theaters this summer, on July 27th.
