Life of the Party — Trailer

added: Mon, Feb 5th '18

It's never too late to get a college education. And you're never too old to become the "Life of the Party."

Melissa McCarthy sets out to prove those points in her latest collaboration with her comedy writing partner, director, and husband Ben Falcone (The Boss, Tammy).

With a familiar concept akin, in many respects, to Rodney Dangerfield's 1980s classic "Back to School," the upcoming comedy sees McCarthy as a middle-aged housewife who, after being dumped by her husband, has decided to complete her college degree by going to the same university her daughter is attending. And what ensues is a re-awakening of McCarthy's inner 20-year-old self who, surprisingly, happens to be a boy-hungry party animal.

Co-starring Maya Rudolph, Jacki Weaver, Gillian Jacobs, Luke Benward, and Julie Bowen with Veep's Matt Walsh playing McCarthy's ex-husband and Animal Kingdom's Molly Gordon as McCarthy's college-attending daughter, "Life of the Party" is due in theaters on May 11th. Watch the newly-released trailer, above.

When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna turns regret into re-set by going back to college -- landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who's not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna -- now Dee Rock -- embraces freedom, fun, and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.
