Sometimes, the most terrifying sound imaginable is that of complete silence. And in some cases, silence is the very thing that can protect us from terror.
Actor John Krasinski, who is making his third feature as a director with the supernatural suspense thriller "A Quiet Place," appears to be playing up the notion that the most scariest things in life are the things we do not see or even understand fully.
Krasinski, who also stars in the upcoming horror movie which is taking place in an apocalyptic setting, is joined by his real-life wife, actress Emily Blunt (Sicario, Edge of Tomorrow). They play a married couple hiding out in the woods with their two young children as they try to protect themselves from a strange, ominous supernatural presence that seemingly only responds to sounds and certain noises. And for that reason, the entire family have restricted themselves to only communicate through sign language and a simple lighting system (red light means run).
Krasinski also wrote the screenplay for the film, which co-stars kid actor Noah Jupe (from "Wonder" and "Suburbicon") and real-life deaf actress Millicent Simmonds (the breakout star of Todd Haynes' new film "Wonderstruck") as Krasinski and Blunt's onscreen children.
"A Quiet Place" is currently scheduled to hit theaters on April 6th. In the meantime, you can check out a brand-new trailer, above, which just debuted during the Super Bowl.
