Hulu's Castle Rock — Super Bowl Trailer

Hulu has released an early peek at their 30-second Super Bowl trailer for "Castle Rock," the upcoming suspense-thriller series from Stephen King and executive producer J.J. Abrams.

Though not necessarily based off any specific Stephen King novel, the Hulu mystery drama, however, is set in the fictional Maine town of "Castle Rock," which was invented by the famed horror author and has been the setting of many of his classic works, such as "Cujo," "The Dead Zone," "Needful Things," "The Dark Half," "IT," "Shawshank Redemption," and so on.

The ten-episode mystery thriller, developed and written by "Manhattan" producers Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason, will not only try to emulate King's writing style, but will also feature many of his literary characters, as if they are all a part of the "Castle Rock" multiverse.

Among those in the ensemble cast are Oscar-winner Sissy Spacek, Andre Holland (Moonlight), Bill Skarsgard (IT), Jane Levy (Don't Breathe), Terry O'Quinn (TV's Lost), Melanie Lynskey (HBO's Togetherness), and Scott Glenn (HBO's The Leftovers).

"Castle Rock" is set to premiere this summer, only on Hulu.

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King's best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.

The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King's literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller -- a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.
