Dwayne Johnson has made a new friend. Well, he's not just a friend, he's family. And he also happens to be a giant silverback gorilla who is increasing in size at an alarmingly fast rate.

Check out the new one-minute extended TV spot for "Rampage," the Rock's latest big-budget action film about an animal genetic experiment gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Based on the 1980s arcade video game by Midway Games, the film casts Johnson as a primatologist who discovers his "friend" George has been turned into a giant rampaging monster after accidentally coming in contact with a top-secret government-created potion. Now the Rock must find a way to stop George from destroying the city or see his friend be put down by the military.

Oh, there's another thing. George isn't the only mutated monster out there. There's also a giant 30-foot wolf that can fly, and a giant-size crocodile that can chomp through metal like butter.

Directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas) and also starring Naomie Harris and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, "Rampage" will be stomping into theaters on April 13th.

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
